Is it alright to leave a siberian husky outside?

I always wanted a dog, preferably siberian husky. I live in Machusetts (weather is rainy and cool throughout spring/fall, snowy in winter, and rainy/warm in summer). However my parents will only bring a dog to the family if it is left outside in the backyard (it's a big backyard, good for the dog to play). My parents won't allow a big dog into the house, afraid that it would make a mess haha. And ofcourse we will get a large doghouse for it. Under those guidelines, is it alright to leave the dog outside?
