Can i refuse to be interrogated by my insurance company?
Our home was broken into and robbed this past June, we had home insurance but at that point it had we only had our policy since November (7 months). We even had an extra coverage for jewelry as I owned quite a bit of jewelry. We made a claim and provided receipts, pamphlets and evaluations for the jewelry as requested by them. We met with the adjuster who questioned us regarding the cirstances leading to the home robbery and also met with an investigater. Soon after harring them with regards to the status of our claim they sent us an evaluation of what they determined we lost in the robbery, however they had left out a few items wich we promptly brought to their attention. Suddenly everything changed and they decided that they did not have sufficient proof of loss to close our claim. They are now requesting to interrogate us separatly. Can they legally do this? What are our rights? Can my husband and I refuse to be separated for the interrogation? We have provided them with all the proof possible they even went to our jeweler to confirm we purchased our jewelry from him because we had no receipt for some of the jewelry as we had paid cash. I feel that they are trying to give us the run around in order to find any excuse not to pay us.
